“You have all the tools already inside you, you just have to know how to use them.”

Whether you want to call it self help, personal growth, personal development or your god given growth, they all relatively mean the same thing. If your not familiar with these terms, they all simply mean improving yourself for the better, to better your current situation. Its a way of living life, Its about growing positively and having a higher awareness of yourself and your surroundings. Its about not settling with the current way of thinking and going above and beyond the norm.

In personal development there are several methods you can use to make your life better and make you a more well rounded individual. I see personal development less about changing yourself and more about getting back what you where originally, as your real self. You have all the tools already inside you, you just have to know how to use them. [click to continue…]

Brain Cookie #2: Favorite Fortunes

by Taylor on July 11, 2009

braincookieOn my desk at work, I keep a collection of some of my favorite fortunes from fortune cookies I have received from my local Chinese restaurant.

To me fortune cookies are very special, they are proof that good things do come in small packages. There not only something sweet to eat, they are also packed with some powerful messages within (most of the time). Some cookies come with inspirational quotes, some come with compliments but overall they make you feel good and they are fun to read. I remember getting some fortunes in the past which came in ironic times and made a lot of sense to me.

Bottom line, people like to be told good encouraging things about their self, it just feels good. Some fortunes may sound kinda generic and are written poorly lol but never the less I really do love reading them! I think they should come in every food you buy! I keep some of my favorites displayed on my cubicle wall, they make for a nice positive affirmation on days when I need some extra motivation. [click to continue…]

attacking food (Custom)

“The goal in eating is to do two things, provide your body with nutrition and vital energy that’s it.”

Lets face it, set schedules, counting calories and eating food that taste like chalk isn’t going to propel us to the next level, its going to discourage us, rob our bank accounts and leave us with a nasty taste in our mouths. The diet industry is the most misunderstood and wacky system I have ever seen in my life, companies want to keep you fat or have short burst of weight loss then gain it back so you buy their products multiple times, its sickening. Looking back eating is something we mastered in the early years of man, conquered it by being conscious of our diets and now we are going backwards, back to the caveman days I swear. We have things completely twisted, Instead of going to the source of the problem(the food) we take supplements/medication to do it for us. Its all apart of the microwave mentality and its something that is going to be the motivator to change in our society or be the death of us.

We are clearly making loosing weight too complicated. It can simply be put (in most cases) what goes in our body stays in our body. Its really easy to understand, to diet you must do the opposite of how you got overweight in the first place. It all comes down to the food. The food didn’t jump into your mouth, we decided to put it there and then in hand(literally), overeat! The thing we believe is everyone is the same, we need a set schedule for eating cause our bodies are always on a constant track. Lies lies lies, we don’t always do the same work in a day to deserve the same amount of nutrition. We must expose the lies to see the truth, and this my friends is a big barrel of them. If you don’t feel like coming down, loosing weight and breaking those habits today then just stop reading now, you must want to loose the weight you have gained to fully apply yourself, this isn’t a one foot in and one foot out approach. But I sincerely want you to try this experiment with me.. [click to continue…]

billy

“I think it’s the consistency. You’ve got to stay true to what you do, you’ve got to really be humble and you’ve got to believe in the products you sell, you really do.” – Billy Mays

Billy’s passing was pretty ironic for me. I just recently posted up an article called “Luck isn’t random, its about marketing yourself“, In the article I spoke about Billy’s new show and look, a few weeks later Billy Mays left us. Its a very tragic story, I was pretty sad and shocked when I heard the news. If you were viewer of his show, you knew he was just a good family man, that had a dream. I realized along with his most famous commercials, he left us a giant legacy of wonderful character traits we must embrace and apply in our daily lives. I thought Id pay my tribute and list the things that I know Billy had and used to the utmost. Behind every legend there is a trail of lessons to be learned, this happens to be Billy’s lesson: [click to continue…]

Multiple 1-up Mentality

by Taylor on July 1, 2009

nintendo black and white

When I was a kid I was obsessed with playing Super Nintendo. A particular game that sticks out in my mind was Mario. I played Mario until the little cartridge itself practically broke :) . Looking back at my Mario years I realized something quite profound. I found that I always did much better and beat the most levels in the game when I had just one 1-up(life) left. With just one life left, I had to be conscious of every move Mario made and I turned all my button mashing  into an art form. It was do or die or in Mario’s case, restart to the last saved level! relaxing

“In fact, I make relaxing a lifestyle that which I can live and apply daily.”

Here I am un-showered at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon, writing at my little desk as I wear a tee shirt and boxers. In fact I’m still wearing the same outfit I put on last night to go to sleep in and you know what, it feels priceless. Sunday can be one of my favorite days despite of it leading to the next day(work day), it is a time where I can just live simple and be carefree. I will probably cook out later tonight and make some of my favorite burgers ever, “Bubba Burgers” for my wife and I. I planned that today is going to be at the utmost of simplicity.
