This can be one of the most important things you could do for your personal happiness! Here are the things I learned along the way. I’m just going to be honest this was not an easy task and it will take you some work, but you are worth it. You owe it to yourself to be happy! Hopefully by reading this list you can save yourself the 4 years it took for me to figure all this out. So try to learn all you can, implement these tips daily and through repetition you will be on your way to success! I promise!
33 Tips To Doing It Yourself:
- The first most important thing you must do in order to find yourself is to let go of all beliefs that are conflicting and causing inner turmoil. Its best to start fresh. The reason I say this is because you have to now figure out what is going to work for you and what is going to conflict with you. Letting go of old beliefs gives you the ability to obtain new more compatible beliefs. This will lay the foundation.
- Now is the time to be selfish! I don’t care what anybody else says, being selfish is a good way to finding yourself! I’m not talking about the kind of selfish like you don’t want to share something. What I’m saying is right now think only about yourself and what YOU want!
- Tuning out the negative thoughts by knowing the truth. If you have some nagging negative thought like “Your no good” or “You are worthless”, well this is the sign that you need to just disassociate yourself with those thoughts because they aren’t coming from you! This will be very freeing for you to know, you are not your thoughts! Strive to know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
- Remember that you are treasure! You are important and regardless what anyone thinks you have extreme self worth and you are special, be confident and KNOW this!
- Go with the flow. Going with the flow means to let go and just live. Think about what a stream of water does, It just rides out.
- Be yourself, Its too much work to have to be 53 different people. You shouldn’t have to have a separate way to act around each friend, its not consistent and its going to fail. Keep your persona balanced. You will realize how comfortable it is to be yourself 24 hours a day and not have to use modifications. This is one of the most important things Ive found that made a huge difference in my life. And as your act yourself consistently everything will work out naturally, the friends that don’t like the real you will fade and the ones that do will stay.
- This is an activity tip: Excited? You should be! Pull out a sheet of paper or open up a word document. Type or write at the top of the page “My Interests”. Underneath that I want you to write out as many interests that you have as well as things you may be interested in. Spend a good 20 minutes doing this. Then analyze your results and see what a awesome person you are!
- Be sensitive to what you open yourself up to or expose yourself to. Remember that your body is a temple! Now that you are starting fresh be careful and cautious about the new thoughts and beliefs you take on. Use a filter. Sort new thoughts and beliefs with these two questions. Does this empower me? Will this make me a positive person or negative person?
- If you think that your job is the main problem with the stress in your life, take a break from working for awhile. Go on a road trip. You will be surprised on how you will learn things about yourself while doing this
- Talk to yourself, there’s nothing wrong with it, it can be a really good way to stay focused
- Move somewhere new. As a human you aren’t bound to one area where your suppose to live forever! Try moving somewhere new. Maybe a new town or even like I did a whole new state! Doing this you will be able to start fresh and see things from a totally new perspective! If moving is too serious try to take a temporary trip somewhere. Figure out if you know anyone family or friends that will allow you to stay at their house for a few weeks. If being alone makes you feel uncomfortable, go with a best friend!
- Realize that the thoughts you are experiencing aren’t you they are from your old self. The more you realize they aren’t the you now the easier it will be for them to vanish away.
- Strive to make yourself happy all the time you must be happy in order to make others happy.
- Have an opinion. Have a backbone. A reason why you lost yourself in the first place could be because you were trying to bend to many ways that were going against what you really wanted to do. If you read this post “Why you aren’t getting things done” you can read my article for a further look at this.
- Get clean, pamper yourself. Take yourself out to the movies, buy popcorn and a drink! Buy yourself new clothes. Get the things you need to make you feel good and confident. Spend an extra 10 minutes in the shower soaping yourself up!
- Organize the things in your life. In a crisis, internal things can sometimes show up externally. Having a clean or organized house will make you feel a lot more put together. By organizing your possessions you will realize that everything has a place and everything belongs somewhere just like you.
- Live slow and take your time. Think about an oven, It gives things a nice thorough cook because it takes its time By living like an oven you will be able to put true quality in things and not mass amounts of junk. Strive for true quality not quantity!
- Set up a support system of friends and family that will uplift you and help you out when times get tough. Sometimes while feeling extremely bad, its important to see people that will make you feel better.
- Have a clear vision on where you want your life to go from here on out. Use your “My Interests” sheet and to explore goals you may have. Analyze the things that make you tick and go after that!
- Focus on simplification and routines. What can you do to make things easier in your life? Can you do without certain steps you are taking? Alot of time we make things so much more complicated that they really need to be. Strive for simplification and get yourself on a routine that keeps you motivated.
- Don’t change the weight or proportion of things. They are as they are. If your stuck in traffic, well that’s out of your control. Don’t make it a bigger issue when there’s nothing you can do about it.
- If drinking a coke makes you happy than by golly drink a coke. There’s bigger things in life to cut out. Like alcohol addictions. You will find that the simple things in life will give you the most joy. I know I love me a coke and a Little Debbie daily! If you think something that makes you happy is harmful put it on virtual scale and weigh it. Ask yourself is this harming me? Is there something I can do to counteract the effects? Am I worth being happy? The answer to all those is yes. I see too many people doing away with things that make them happy. If you are overweight because enjoy food, Well than counteract the fat gain and workout as well! This will keep your figure and your happiness all at once!
- Understand that you are rare and you are a winner! You are meant to be here! Even when you were just a spermling you were the fastest and best swimmer around out of millions of other sperm! You see before you could even remember you were already winning from the beginning! All humans on earth have this power so feel blessed!
- Stick to what your comfortable with, don’t ever compromise that unless its going to be something positive like kicking a drug habit.
- Right now focus on the basic necessities in life which are YOU, food, water shelter and clothing.
- To know yourself you must consistently BE yourself!
- Write or type out a list of fears you have and start doing them and crossing them out one by one. You will realize after doing this, the fears that were holding you back were quite trivial!
- Forgive people from the past so your future will feel guilt free!
- Understand that your not your parents this is a LIE! You are a individual human being with a set of completely unique traits and talents. Your parents weaknesses will only transfer to you if you believe this lie!
- Be honestly genuine and real and stay down to earth. People tend to be afraid of dong this because it makes them feel exposed. People have a fear of showing their true colors to others and telling the truth. DO this and it will help keep a consistent self as well.
- Be honest with yourself and all whom you love and hate.
- Look back to when you were a kid, what were your passions? What was your personality like? I believe that when people are kids that is their true self and if you can remember how you were than it can be a really eye opening truth on how you should be now! Try listening to your inner kid!
- Last but not least know with all these tips you must apply maintenance and repetition! They aren’t going to be automatic these will take time to become concrete!
